Teaching Philosophy:
As a teacher, having an open mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations are essential to the classroom which must be a safe, caring community where young people are free to voice their opinions, blossom and grow. Music is an integral part of my life, and I love using music to enhance the classroom as well. I owe it to my students, as well as the community, to bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in others.
Personal background: Born and reared in the great state of Alabama, I am a huge fan of southern cooking, county fairs, Johnny Cash, and the Crimson Tide! Roll Tide! My family moved to Pennsylvania in 1989 when my husband was hired at Clarks Summit University as a music professor. Living in the Northeast has introduced me to wonderful people, pierogis and kielbasa, Old Forge pizza, lots of snow, and Penn State fans! I have become very fond of this region, except for winter, and am now comfortable enough to call it home! Teaching at Lackawanna Trail has truly been a privilege and blessing in my life!
