Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope this message finds you all well and enjoying the summer!  I can tell you that we have been hard at work preparing the elementary center for the return of faculty, staff, and students. We are currently finishing the installation of new tile in areas throughout the building, and our maintenance staff has done a tremendous job of organizing classrooms.

The past eighteen months have taught us much and we continue to learn more each day in regards to the ongoing pandemic.  The district has prepared a health and safety plan that will be submitted to the department of health and will be available for your viewing on the district’s website.  At this time that plan recommends, but does not mandate the wearing of masks in the building.  I can assure you that children who decide to wear masks, or who do not, will not be treated differently by anyone in this building.

As the building principal I take very seriously your child’s health and will do everything in my power to maintain safety protocols throughout the day.  Guidelines that are set forth by the Centers for Disease Control, as well as the Pennsylvania Department of Education will be followed on a regular basis.

I understand that you may have questions regarding both in-person and virtual learning options and I am happy to help answer those.  Please feel free to reach out to me at 570-945-5153 or

On behalf of the entire Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center I thank you for your support during these times.  As always LION PRIDE will show through!!

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your summer. I have received many questions regarding the dress code and I wanted to provide you with information that will hopefully provide some answers. The dress code this year will be “relaxed.” Collared shirts will not be required. Hooded sweatshirts will be allowed. We do ask that jeans or pants with holes, rips, or tears in them be avoided. Clothing that is appropriate for physical education classes may be worn on days when students have PE.

These changes are part of a “pilot program” that our administration is working on.  If problems arise updates will be made.

Thank you!
